This simple yet highly accurate device is used to test for sensation in the foot. People who have lost feeling in their feet cannot feel wounds and blisters that may be caused by poorly-fitting shoes that pinch or chafe. Left untended, these wounds can become infected and can even lead to amputation. People with diabetes are especially at risk for ulcers, pressure sores and decreased circulation. The Touch-Test™ Sensory Evaluator is specially designed so that people can quickly and easily evaluate and monitor loss of feeling in their feet. Gently press the calibrated filament against the skin at a 90º angle until it reaches its bending point. If you can't feel it you've lost protective sensation in your foot. Consult a physician about planning a course of preventative care. When not in use, the Sensory Evaluator can be closed to protect the monofilament. Complete instructions are included.
